Came across a few articles in my searches for passive heating & cooling systems. Most suggested that for tropical climates (i.e KAKADU) cross flow ventilation is a must. Currently reading up on some works by architectural firms that build in Miami, Florida. Miami is a good commercial location to look for ideas as they have extremely hot days coupled with humidity at above 50% everyday.
One site offered some advice in terms of the use of roof angled glazing:
NEVER USE ROOF ANGLED GLASS ! ! !
(1) Roof-angled glass is a huge heat loser on winter nights, when warm air rises to touch the low-thermal-resistance highly-conductive glass. It is like a thermal hole in your ceiling and roof, allowing enormous, expensive heat flow.
(2) Roof-angled glass is also a huge heat gainer on hot sunny summer days, when the scorching sun is nearly straight overhead for hours.

Heating systems keep your home warm and comfortable. If you live in a particularly cold climate, the function of your heating system is a high priority.
